What are the Best Looking Turntables?

Written by Ben W

I love vinyl since the first day I discovered an old record player at my grandparents attic. Now, I own over a dozen record players and I am always looking for gems like albums of vintage models.

Introduction

The looks are one of the attributes that are imperative for turntables to have. The vintage design is one of the first things most people notice about these beautiful contraptions, so it’s only natural that people demand beautiful turntables.

Some of the very first models looked pretty plain at the time they were manufactured, but they age like wine – the older the model, the more people like it.

Elegance, beauty, and Nostalgia – Why beauty matters

The best-looking turntables have different designs – some are elegant and straightforward, others are rather delicate, some are quite big and decorated with various small ornaments. We can’t put a precise definition of these turntables as people have different tastes of aesthetics.

Anyhow, we’re here to help you in your search. By putting an accent on elegance and beauty we don’t want to skip the other features that are supplied with these models – you would hardly have any use of a turntable that could do nothing but look good.

So why exactly does elegance matters?

Turntables aren’t supposed to provide you with music alone – they’re a piece of decoration that breathe life in your home, bringing some sweet nostalgia along the way. Some people really like to reminiscence by simply sitting next to their turntable even if the record isn’t spinning. You will know it when it happens – some music is supposed to play silently.

What to look out for

As we’ve mentioned before, there’s more to a turntable than looks. There are some features that you should look out for if you’ve settled for a turntable model that looks just the way you want it – these are:

  • Your turntable should also be at least decently durable

You could look at it this way – a turntable that isn’t durable is more likely to break, and all of its beauty would have been for naught. Check the record compartment, see if all the parts are in place, and, obviously, see if any parts are missing.

  • Keep in mind how much effort is needed for the maintenance process

We couldn’t label a person as “lazy” if he (or she) didn’t want to bother with the cleaning and maintenance of a turntable. Some of the largest models and those which are equipped with various delicate parts are extremely hard to clean, so you don’t want them to gather dust in the corner.

  • The price is obviously high, but you might want to avoid an overkill

Manufacturers who offer best-looking turntables have put much effort to make them, and it’s certain that they will set the price above average. Anyhow, don’t just go with it if you deem a particular turntable model to have the best looks you’ve ever seen. There are a lot of models that look ravishing and which do not cost too much, actually.
