Written by Ben W

I love vinyl since the first day I discovered an old record player at my grandparents attic. Now, I own over a dozen record players and I am always looking for gems like albums of vintage models.

USB record players, the best buy for you’re buck

The old times… listening to a vinyl record while doing… yeah whatever you liked in the days. The old memories are good, to good to be lost. Luckily there are some realy nice turntables that allow to safely store your old records.

USB record players are used for converting vinyl records to digital music. They can also be used to listen from vinyl when using your surround system for more volume. The number one reason by far is however converting music.

In order to save your old records to mp3’s you want a turntable that is able to play the records smoothly and has a good connection with your pc.

But you also need some basic understanding how the record players works in order to get the best sound. In this article we review 5 different turntables, each with their pro’s and con’s. All are able to create nice mp3 files, the big difference is price and required “user know-how” Find them all listed in the table below.

Numark TTUSB Turntable with USB Numark TTUSB Turntable with USBThis turntable is really easy to use and performs quite good. For just under 90 bug it is in the mid range. The table is able to handle two speeds, 33 and 45. But if you want to convert the old 78’s you can spin them at 33 and use the supplied software to adjust the music! It is a bit hard to set the needle on the record without giving it some bounce and shake, but with some practices you will be okay. The cables and software are supplied and you will be up and going in no time. Numark allows you to replace the cartridge so duration is good. In short, a good product for a reasonable price. Both the software and the turntable are user friendly. This will definitely safely store your old records.

Count also the surprisingly good speakers and an AUX output and we have something here. The machine is able to handle 33/45 and 78 rpm so all the records are covered. You don’t even need a special software or a computer, you can just put in your SD card. Therefor it is extremely easy to use! It also has an radio function so it is quite complete. The turntable isn’t completely silent however. Overall, for just over 80 dollar it is complete and useful device that can give you much more than just converted old records.

Vibe USB Mini Portable TurntableVibe USB Mini Portable Turntable The Benjamin in the list, but don’t ignore it. The quality is surprisingly good for $29. This little machine isn’t great to look at. But is does convert the old records with 33 and 45 (adapter not included) rpm to MP3. The software is included and fast to use. What is there to say, not the high end product but it does the job, it converts LP to MP3. How do they make it for this money?
