Kids record player

What is the best record player for your kid?

Well, if a child is going to use the record player the turntable must have some characteristics:

-Easy to use, of course your kid is a clever one, but not a rocket scientist (yet..) therefor the player most be simple enough to be in use within minutes.

-Solid (it might get some hits), this is important for both the child and the player. Of course we do not want the record player to be damaged, but it would be far worse if parts would come off that can harm the child. Therefore a model suited for kids must be of decent quality.

-Colorful, a kid wants a player with nice colors, shiny and bright. That is what children like.

So this is what we are looking for in the turntable. Does the ” Basic Fun Fisher Price” bring this kind of features?

Vinyl to MP3

Vinyl to MP3

How to digital store your old records, is that possible and can you do it yourself?

Vinyl to MP3

Vinyl record to MP3The answer is yes and yes! It is possible and you can do it yourself. It is quite easy actually. All you need is a record player that you can connect to a computer. These turntables are called USB record players (you can find a few of them listed here) and there are quite a lot of them. The type you needed is dependent on your wishes and budget.

 How To..

So, how are we going to do this? The first thing of course if using the right equipment.  The most important piece is of course the vinyl plate itself. It doesn’t matter is the LP is 33, 45 or 78 rpm. The principle is the same. Besides the records you need a computer to attach to the USB turntable (some players only need na hard disk or SD card) For the recording or converting we are going to use an USB turntable. Preferredly one with the software supplied. You can buy these from $25 to $xxx depending on your wishes. Of course there is some diferences in quality but the main difference is speed. In order to record the music you just play the LP. If the record player allows you to adjust the stylus and arm than make sure these are in the right position as the music is stored the way it is read by de turntable on the LP. If the player does not allow you to adjust you can assume that the settings are optimal.  If the player is setup correctly connect it to the computer and start the software. You can always adjust the music after recording. The software will allow you to start the actual recording and choose a destination for the file and the type of the file, use MP3 for the most user friendly and all round aplicability. Start the recording by the software. The vinyl Plate is now spon by the USB record player and the music is stored directly at the harddisk of your PC.
